This project will reconstruct 117 km of railway line from Rrogozhina to Pogradec on the Western Balkans - East Mediterranean Corridor. Aligned with EU standards, this investment will enable faster journeys, reduce operation and maintenance costs, improve safety, and facilitate the shift of freight and passenger transport from road to rail, fostering regional connectivity.
The WBIF provides technical assistance for project preparation to develop the detailed design, ESIA and tender documents for the reconstruction works, as well as a pre-feasibility study for a rail bypass in Elbasan.
