Rrashbull – Fier 400 kV Overhead Transmission Line

Rrashbull – Fier 400 kV Overhead Transmission Line

Project Description

This project aims to close Albania's 400 kV internal transmission lines between Rrashbull and Fier in a ring topology by constructing a new 400 kV transmission line connecting the Fier - Hoxhare - Rrashbull substations. The investments include the following measures: 1) Construction of 400 kV double circuit OH transmission line between Fier, Hoxhare and Rrashbull substations – about 78 km long with ACSR 2x490/65 mm2 conductor (single circuit at this stage of the project); 2) Extension to 400 kV and reinforcement of Rrashbull substation; 3) Reinforcement of Fier substation and installation of a second 400/220 kV, 400 MVA transformer; 4) Extension to 400 kV voltage and reinforcement of the existing 220/110 kV Hoxhara substation with new 400/110 kV transformers; 5) Connection of Hoxhara substation in/out of the new 400 kV line Fier – Rrashbull.

The WBIF provides technical assistance for developing the feasibility study and environmental and social scoping for the project.
